The year was 1994. Steve McNair out of tiny Alcorn State was putting up prolific numbers, even by today’s pass-crazed stats. McNair threw for 5,377 yards, completing 356-of-612 passes and threw for a career-high 47 touchdowns that season. He also ran for 908 yards and nine touchdowns.
Those numbers weren’t enough to get him the Heisman, as he finished third (Colorado’s Rashaan Salaam won it), but they did help him get selected third overall in the 1995 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers.
Despite not reaching his goal, the collection of highlights here is very impressive. Definitely worth a couple of minutes. RIP Steve McNair
