Winston-Salem State didn’t score half as many points as it did the week before, but it was more than enough to take care of a struggling Johnson C. Smith team. Visiting WSSU came away with a relatively easy 37-0 win against JCSU to pick up its fourth straight victory.

A week after allowing Chowan to rack up 30 points, WSSU’s defense put the clamps down on JCSU, becoming the fourth team to shut it out this season. JCSU was held to 204 total yards of offense, including just 47 yards rushing.

The Rams offense was stellar, racking up 473 total yards of offense, 247 through the air and 226 on the ground. Rudy Johnson threw for two touchdowns while Maurice Lewis (98 yards) and Mustafa Greene (91 yards) each ran for scores.

JCSU falls to 1-5 on the season. WSSU improves to 5-1 heading into next week’s homecoming game against St. Augustine’s.
