The NCAA, specifically Division I, is usually thought of as the end-all, be-all of college athletics. But many small schools, including several HBCUs, call the NAIA home. In fact, the NAIA actually opened its doors to HBCUs when the NCAA did not.

But we’ll save the history lesson for another day. Right now, HBCUs make up four of the Top 25 NAIA Division I schools.

#9 – Talledega College (18-3, 4-1)
#13 – Xavier (LA) (16-5, 5-1)
#20 – Wiley (TX)
#21 – Philander Smith (AL) (15-5, 4-1)
