Saturday’s game between Alabama A&M and South Carolina State is more than just your average MEAC/SWAC out of conference game. It will mark the return of Alabama A&M head coach Anthony Jones to the place where he cut his teeth in the coaching profession.

After Jones’ career as an NFL tight end ended, he joined the SC State coaching staff under the legendary Willie Jeffries. Jones later took on the head coaching role at Morehouse before joining AAMU. Jones will bring his team (1-1) to Orangeburg a week after a disappointing 23-7 loss to Division II Tuskegee.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js “I guess the game can be summarized by turnovers and penalties and missed opportunities and when you play a good football team, Tuskegee’s a good football team,” Jones said. “You can’t help them by hurting yourself and that’s what we did Saturday.”

South Carolina State enters the game looking for its first win of the season. The Bulldogs lost their home opener to in-state FCS rival Coastal Carolina and then received a 52-13 shellacking from national power Clemson last week.

Prediction: SC State by 10
