Former NC A&T Baller Finds Redemption

Woke up to a great piece in the Raleigh News and Observer this morning. Sports is just a footnote in this story, but it’s one worth sharing. The N&O’s Anne Blythe profiled Lamonte Armstrong, a former North Carolina A&T basketball player and 1975 graduate who served 17 years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit.

In 1995, Armstrong was convicted of the 1988 murder of an A&T professor. It took nearly a decade of work by Duke University’s Wrongful Convictions Clinic before Armstrong was released from prison in 2012.

Won’t try to recreate the wheel as Blythe did an excellent job of telling the story already, but it’s definitely worth checking out.;sz=300×250;ord=%5Btimestamp%5D?;lid=41000613802463289;pid=1419681;usg=AFHzDLuhfr83whJDob9qOedEWbmAvU-N9A;;pubid=581878;price=%2430.98;title=Tradition+Men+North+Carolina+A%26T+Crewneck+Grey+X-Large;;;width=108;height=135
